Natural and Organic Farming and Foods – Suggested Reading

As a follow up to the Food, Inc. showing at Penn State Schuylkill last evening, I wanted to share some related documentaries and books.

Food, Inc. showed a behind the scenes look at America’s food industry and showed us where our food really comes from. We contrasted this with the farmers working locally here in Schuylkill County to bring us meats, dairy, and produce.

If you liked the film, here are several other resources that you will enjoy as well.

Documentaries:
The Future of Food
King Corn
Supersize Me
The Botany of Desire
Killer at Large: Why obesity is America’s greatest threat

Books:
An Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan
In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan
Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser
Clean Food by Terry Walters
Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver
Organic Manifesto by Maria Rodale
Slow Food Nation by Carlo Petrini and Alice Waters

Thanks to everyone that attended the event and we hope to have more like it in the future. Please feel free to reply and add any other resources that I may have missed.
